TGIF!

It's finally Friday! Is it just me or do the weeks seem to drag on lately? I feel like time has flown by, Fall is just around the corner but it feels like just yesterday it was May, but yet the weekends still take forever to get here it seems. Such is life I guess.

Hope you are all having a great week and plan to have an even better weekend! I might check out the Bearkat soccer game tonight and then work on some Ruffles and Lace projects tomorrow. Last night was Hornet Hysteria at the high school, Candy and I went with a couple other friends to watch Miss Caitlyn cheer. She did a fabulous job! It is still a bit strange going back to my old high school, even after working there for several years, and being in a brand new gym that wasn't around back when I was young. Oh well, guess I'm getting old!

Last weekend I worked on some Ruffles and Lace projects for Fair on the Square. Here's a little peek at one of the creations.
Candy Corn Wreath

Dont forget to make plans to attend the Fair on the Square- Saturday, October 6th! There are a ton of booths with all kinds of vendors and goodies and of course awesome food vendors, and there's a beer garden too ;)

Enjoy your Friday and have a fantabulous weekend!

Random.

I know many of you read The Pioneer Woman's site, if you don't, you're missing out! I usually just read and laugh at her silliness while randomly entering giveaways (that I'm ones never going to win) but every once in a while one of the posts really stands out and I'm compelled to share it. Do yourself a favor and check out This Post about some super cute sandals. They're not only really cute, but also support a great cause, which makes them extra fabulous!

On a completely different note, who's been watching True Blood?! OMG. I'm really glad I didn't stop watching a few seasons back like I almost did... so. good. right. now. And sticking to the topic of television, my ultimate, all-time favorite show starts back up in less than a month- SOA! (Sons of Anarchy) You should definitely catch up on the previous seasons if you haven't already been watching, it's literally the best show I've ever seen.

Can you believe Summer is almost over? Well, I guess down here it technically never ends until the first freeze, and even then it's questionable. But, Fall is coming and I couldn't be more excitd. I love when it starts to get dark out earlier and the breeze is cool at night. I just love the build up to winter with all the Fall decor, colors, leaves everywhere, rainy days, and s'mores (you can't have cool weather without s'mores!).

I'm so ready for this weekend so I can get back to working Ruffles and Lace projects! Hope you have some exciting plans for the weekend :)

Hump Day!

Is it just me or is this week going by reaaaaallllly slooooowwwly? Today should definitely be Friday, or at the very least, Thursday! Alas, I'll have to settle for Wednesday. Which is ok, there are only two more days left until the weekend and working on new projects!

Last Sunday I had an appointment down in the Woodlands so I just HAD to stop at Joann Fabrics and start stocking up for fall. I know I've gone on several times about loving summer time, but fall really is awesome..I mean if I really had to pick a fav it just might be fall, although really why pick favorites when it's not necessary? Joann's was having a fantabulous sale AND I had a coupon so I did really well for the day. Here's a little sneak preview at some fabrics I purchased. Remind you of anything in particular?

I actually took off work last Friday to get some stuff done since I had such a busy weekend of errands, appointments, and tons of driving. After making some major progress on the list Friday morning my mama and I hit up some antique stores in some nearby towns that afternoon. It was a lot of fun, even though it was crazy hot. Can you believe some of these places don't haev AC's or fans?! We didn't end up getting much, but I found a few awesome sites for future purchases (sorry, can't reveal any of those details hehe!) One shop we went in had an entire wall filled with old stained glass windows. They were so pretty!
The picture obvs doesn't do the glass justice, you'll just have to trust me that they were beautiful :)

Hope everyone is having a fabulous week and planning great things for the weekend, I know I am!

We Survived.

Well, we did it. Christmas in July was a major success, and we survived the blistering heat!

I got everything all organized and ready Friday night, while watching the opening ceremonies of course, and then we loaded up the cars and headed out bright and early at 6:30AM Saturday morning. Our booth was on a nice little corner near the main road, so we had a good breeze for most of the day, which was probably was kept was from dying of heat stroke. The booth next to us was a whole little family working together, they were so cute! AND as it turns out, the daughters were in my sister-in-law's English class last year. Such a small world. We had a lot of fun meeting everyone and visiting with out neighbors. Ruffles and Lace did really well, especially considering the heat, and the fact that I don't think the event garnered as much traffic as they were hoping. There were still quite a bit of people, I just think more would have shown up if not for the sun melting our faces off. All in all, it was a fabulous day and a great experience for our first bigger show. We CAN'T WAIT to do another one! We're looking at doing Fair on the Square in October, I'll hopefully have more information about that next week.

Hope your weekend was as great as mine! (even though it's Monday, and I now need a weekend to recover from my weekend) ;)

Excited.

I'm so unbelievably excited right now. This weekend Ruffles and Lace will be attending the Christmas in July fair in Coldspring! If you have never been (or heard of it) Christmas in July is very similar to the Huntsville Fair on the Square. I'll be there bright and early setting up the booth Saturday morning, with the fair offically starting around 9:00am. Come on out and see us! There is going to be plenty to do for everyone. Since it is Christmas in July, there will be a huge kids zone and Santa will even make an appearance! There will be tons of craft booths, food and just awesome fun. Ruffles and Lace will be in booth 19, which is actually near the food zone corner, prime locale for traffic I think ;)

Here's a sneak preview at a few things I've been working on... I know I've been horrible about posting pics on here and the Facebook page lately, there are just not enough hours in the day!

Dont mind the background images in the second picture, it was raining for an entire week so I had to move my outdoor project indoors to my parent's living room. haha!
This was my first try at etching glass. It's really fun actually! I learned a lot from my first try and will definitely be doing it again with better results in the future :)

Being back at work this week is so hard after having an entire week off for vacation! We went to the Frio, it was so nice!

Hope you're having a great week so far and can't wait to see everyone at Christmas in July this weekend! :)

Thoughts.

This dreary weather makes me feel very Blah! Don't get me wrong, I love a good rainy day as much as the next girl. I just hate having to get out and do stuff in it. This is definitely stay at home and work on projects or curl up with a good book weather. For me, the first would definitely be ideal right about now. I'm going to be on vaca for a week starting Saturday, which doesn't leave a lot of time to prepare for Christmas in July on the 28th. There is still a lot to do! But, I'm sure relaxing on vaca will help me pull through and get the job done. ;)

Just in case you aren't experiencing the lovely weather we are....

And just because we can't end on a dreary note (and I LOVE the print on my new Hipster!)

Busy Busy Bee!

I had grand plans of doing a large post from work today featuring some Instagram pics of late, however the Oh So Lovely computer system at work that has been on the fritz for over a week decided today would be a great day to allow everyone access. Soooo, needless to say I was up to my eyeballs in reports. Do you work much with Excel? I've always been kind of a freak about organization when it comes to getting things done (except my clothes, they're never organized go figure). Well, the way our magnificent computer program extracts data into the spreadsheet is beyond confusing, I'm basically cross-eyed by the time it's over.. and then it all starts over again the very next month! I think this may be one of the reasons I love crafting so much, it's organized chaos, in a way. There's a plan, usually a very intricate one when I'm involved, and then once you begin, things usually tend to get messy but the project will turnout basically how it was supposed to. I'm definitely of the mindset that some people are good with numbers and other are better creatively- me being the later obvs. I'm not bad with numbers, I'd just rather use the pen I'm writing them with to poke my eye out than actually work with them. Anyway, I'm rambling waaaay off subject here. The point is that I was uber busy at work and couldn't get around to posting the super amazing stuff I was going to, and now that it's late and the Derby is on, you'll just have to wait for another day.

I do like posting some kind of picture though, so here's a few pics from my Sunday errands :)

Did a little shopping! Got the second part of someone's gift! LOVE this store. Super cute and totally reasonable bags. And they're all MACHINE WASHABLE = awesome.

If you've never been, go. now. This is my favorite thing to order, and by my fav, I literally mean I do not order anything else because nothing tops it! Chocolate yogurt with peanut butter crisp topping.YUM!

The drive home was great, we got to look at this scary dude the whole way. He at least waited until we were safe at home before unleashing his wrath.

I also saw Savages Sunday afternoon, really good movie. I suggest seeing it, although if you don't dig the violence, you might want to hold off or at least be prepared to cover your eyes. It is after all, about drug cartels and kidnapping, so tons of violence. It's kind of like a new age "Blow" but with Weed instead of coke.

Hope your week is starting off less crazy than mine! I have several projects to finish before going on vaca next week and would really like to not be swamped at work too. Happy Monday!
